During the public comment section of the Great Bend City Council meeting Monday, a citizen living in the southeast part of the city, said he would like to see more law enforcement control south of 10th Street.

The citizen voiced concern over loud music, speeding and four-wheelers driving through the area.

"We're tired of it. I'd like to go to sleep. I have to work. It wasn't like this three years ago, but it keeps getting worse. Now it's to the point that people are willing to do some stuff about it. Don't take it to that place."

The citizen referenced the troubled area as Kiowa Road to Plum Street. Receiving a previous complaint from the citizen, Great Bend Police Chief Steve Haulmark said law enforcement patrols all areas of the town.

"Short of having somebody in that area all the time, I don't know what the answer is," said Haulmark. "What we did do was dedicate a two-man car to work for four hours on two consecutive Saturday nights. They stayed in that area of town. They did car stops. They looked for loud music complaints. They addressed any issues they saw."

Haulmark said the two-man patrol car found some incidents in the area, but was not any busier than anywhere else in town.
