Barton County and Pawnee County in conjunction with the Kansas Department of Transportation are teaming up to repair two low water crossings on the blacktop road west of Pawnee Rock. In late 2018, Barton County Commissioners approved a design agreement with Kirkham Michael Engineers for the two low water crossings. Here’s Barton County Engineer Barry McManaman.

Pawnee County Commissioners signed the agreement and Barton County Commissioners followed suit on Monday that calls for the two counties to split the construction costs equally and delegates responsibilities for each county.
The work will include the construction of two concrete boxes that will replace the low water crossings that had water two to three feet deep flowing over them last week. Now that the agreement has been signed, bids will be sent out to find a contractor to construct the boxes that will be built on site.
