William Keith “Jake” Lindsay, 90, died February 7, 2019, at Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas. He was born September 5, 1928, in Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Charles G. and Carolyn A. “Lena” (Reimer) Lindsay. Jake served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
A lifetime Barton County resident, Jake was a farmer, but had also been a pipeline worker in his younger years.
He was a member of the Camping Squares of Kansas; the Swinging Stars Square Dance Club, and was an officer for the Kansas Square Dancing Association.
On February 13, 1965, he married Georgetta Lyon, in Hoisington, Kansas. She died on October 22, 1981. He then married Marilyn K. Hulse on May 3, 1985, in Great Bend, Kansas. She survives.
Jake had no children of his own, but became a father to two separate families.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Maryilyn K. Lindsay; children, Lindsey Lyon and wife Phyllis of Conroe, Texas, Timothy Lyon and wife Lana of Liberal, Darlene Klug and husband David of Odin, Clayton Hulse and wife Sheryl of Fifi, Washington, Edward Hulse of Kansas City, Kansas, and Todd Hulse and wife Andrea of Olathe; 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; nieces, Debbie Lindsay of Mesquite, Texas, and Pam Bonham of Larned; and his beloved cat, Pixie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Georgetta; daughter, Gaye Zerr, brothers, Chester, Richard, and Lester Lindsay; and a sister, Maxine Gage.
Friends may call 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Rev. Dick Ogle presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.
