Noah Dickerson added 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Huskies. Lagerald Vick had a career-best 28 points for the Jayhawks, while leading scorer Devonte Graham was held to three points.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – The Chiefs have suspended Marcus Peters for Sunday’s game against Oakland after the volatile young cornerback’s embarrassing tantrum during a last-minute loss to the Jets last weekend. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Peters would not practice with the team as it prepares to face the Raiders in a crucial showdown between teams tied atop the AFC West.
EL PASO, Texas (AP) – Kansas State offensive coordinator Dana Dimel has been named head coach at UTEP. He will take over a team coming off a winless season. Dimel is expected to remain with the Wildcats through their Cactus Bowl game December 26. The Miners were 0-12 this season. Sean Kugler resigned after the team’s 0-5 start. Former UTEP coach Mike Price took over as the interim coach the remainder of the season.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) – Golden State Warriors guard Stephen (STEH’-fehn) Curry will miss a minimum of two weeks after an MRI exam revealed a sprained right ankle. Curry was injured while scoring 31 points in Monday’s win at New Orleans. Curry is averaging 26.3 points, 6.6 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game this season.
PHOENIX (AP) – Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker is expected to be sidelined two to three weeks because of a groin injury suffered late in Tuesday’s loss in Toronto. Booker had 19 points against the Raptors after scoring a season-high 46 points Monday night in a victory in Philadelphia. The 21-year-old Booker is 10th in the NBA in scoring with a 24.3 average.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – San Francisco Giants general manager Bobby Evans has confirmed on San Francisco’s flagship radio station KNBR that the club has reached the parameters of a potential trade for Marlins outfielder and reigning National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton. Evans added that the specifics of the deal weren’t something they were comfortable in revealing, but he added their terms with the Marlins are clear. Stanton is due to make $25 million in 2018 after he led the majors with 59 home runs and 132 RBIs this season.
UNDATED (AP) – Willie Taggart’s contract as Florida State’s new head football coach will pay him $30 million over six years, according to a letter of understanding released by the school. Florida State will also pay the nearly $1.4 million he still owes South Florida and $3 million owed to Oregon as part of buyouts of his previous contracts. Arkansas has hired SMU’s Chad Morris as its new football coach, and Mike Bloomgren is taking over the football program at Rice.
PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Pittsburgh Steelers say linebacker Ryan Shazier has been transferred from a Cincinnati hospital to Pittsburgh medical facility to continue treatment for a spinal injury suffered during Monday night’s game against the Bengals. The Steelers added that Shazier will continue to undergo tests before the team offers an update on his status. Shazier left Paul Brown Stadium on a stretcher following a tackle that left the 25-year-old writhing on the turf, his legs motionless.
