The Barton County Treasurer’s Office is now able to perform regular motor vehicle transactions again, but according the County Treasurer Kevin Wandra, it will be a much slow process the first few weeks. Department of Motor Vehicles across the state were not able to perform motor vehicle transactions from May 1st until May 8th because of a statewide install of a new computer software, and even after the software was up and running, there were still some kinks to work out, which is why some offices like the Barton County Treasurer’s office, did not do motor vehicle transactions until late in the week last week. Wandra explained at Monday’s Barton County Commission meeting what their department can currently do.

Wandra said the State Department thinks they have that issue resolved, but he thinks because his office wasn’t able to perform title work the past two weeks they might have large crowds at their offices for the coming weeks. Wandra suggests calling their offices ahead of time at 620-793-1831 before trying to get any motor vehicle transactions to make sure their system is working and to avoid large crowds.
