Demolition has begun on parts of the current Pawnee Valley Community Hospital facility in Larned in order to make room for their new facility that will be built on the same property as the current hospital. Matt Heyn is the Administrator for Pawnee Valley Community Hospital. He said that they started the phased approach to demolition two weeks ago. They’ve taken down the North two-story structure attached to the hospital. Heyn said it hasn’t effected the any of their services, and they’ve consolidated to the building they will work in for the next two years until the new facility is complete.
Heyn said now that they’ve demolished the north two-story building, its allowed space to start constructing part of the new facility. He said now that the demolition of phase 1 is complete, excavation can begin within the next two weeks, and then the foundation is scheduled to be poured prior to the end of the calendar year.
Pawnee Valley Community Hospital’s new facility will cost an estimated 18.3 million dollars, with a projected completion date in the spring of 2013.
