The new golf course in Great Bend is still on the way. But,
first, there’s the removal of the old stuff. The Great Bend Recreation
Commission is hosting an auction with various pieces of equipment and memorabilia
from the old Petroleum Club and Club at Stoneridge. Rec Enrichment Director
Garet Fitzpatrick said sales will help raise funds for the massive project.

“That is going to be Saturday, Feb. 28, starting at 9 a.m.,
out at the location,” he said. “Everything is going to be at the old clubhouse area.
We’ve taken stuff from the maintenance shed out there. B&amp;B Auction is doing
that. You can go on their website and look at information and see what all they
have there.”

Items in the auction will include various kitchen items,
both large and small. Old turf and maintenance equipment will also be sold, and
members of the old facility may enjoy some of the memorabilia, including oil-related
glass etchings. Gym equipment is still intact and in relatively good shape.

Outside, staff continue to cut down trees, dig ponds, and
work on cart paths to clean up the golf course. 

“We’re just doing some things to get the ball rolling, so
once we do have the money and are able to start doing some more of the
finishing work, we have a lot of the other stuff done that we can do right now
to prep for that,” Fitzpatrick said.

In November, the Rec announced its full plans for the
facility located in the northeast corner of the city limits, including
improvements to the golf course and the demolition of the old clubhouse and the
construction of a new one. As the project is donor driven, the Rec is still accepting
donations through the Great Bend Rec Foundation and Friends of Great Bend. Contact

In a recent presentation to county commissioners, I included a slide that asked a simple but important question: “Why do we need K-State Extension when we have Google?”

It’s a fair question. Today, anyone can search for information in seconds. Answers are immediate. Advice is everywhere. Videos, blogs, podcasts, social media posts; the volume of information available is overwhelming. So where does K-State Extension fit?

The answer is this: Google gives you information. K-State Extension gives you application, context, and trust.

Search engines can provide thousands of answers. But they can’t tell you which recommendation fits western Kansas soil conditions. They can’t evaluate your pasture, your business plan, your parenting challenge, or your local regulation. They don’t know your community, your climate, or your constraints. K-State Extension does.

As part of Kansas State University, K-State Extension translates university research into practical, local solutions. Our agents live and work in the communities they serve. We understand the realities of agriculture, small business development, youth programming, and family life in central and western Kansas.

HARRIS: Why do we need K-State Extension when we have Google

United Way of Central Kansas (UWCK) is celebrating National Reading Month with a community campaign to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library locally.

The initiative, “30 Days. 30 Donors. 30 Children.”, aims to sponsor 30 local children during March. A $30 donation provides one child with 12 high-quality books mailed directly to their home over the course of a year.

Currently, 849 children are enrolled locally, with more than 60,000 books mailed in the region since 2012. For some families, the book that arrives each month may be one of the only books in the home. Nearly 500 Great Bend children are enrolled in Great Bend, with another 190 split between Ellinwood and Hoisington. Larned has 145 children enrolled, and Otis-Bison and Rozel have another 15 combined.

Each delivery is more than a reading opportunity — it’s a moment of connection. A child seeing their name on a package. A family reading together before bedtime. A simple routine that builds confidence, vocabulary, and school readiness.

“These books are still some of my kids’ favorites,” said Charell Owings, Executive Director of UWCK. “Two of them have aged out of the program, but we still read those same books — now they’re the ones reading to me. It shows how a small investment of just $30 a year can spark a lifelong love of reading.”

A recent global study found children in the program are 11 times more likely to be interested in books and significantly more engaged during shared reading.

Dr. Cassandra Olds, Professor of Entomology at Kansas State University is presenting a program on insect control for livestock in March. The program will be held at the Barton County Extension office at 3007 10th&nbsp;Street in Great Bend on Thursday, March 12. The program will start at 9 a.m., with doughnuts, and run about an hour.

Dr. Olds is an expert in control of common livestock pests including flies, and ticks among others.

BOOR: Insect control for livestock program coming to Great Bend March 12

When Mya Brewer came away from a conference in Topeka recently, she noted that “it was a great opportunity to speak up and speak out.”

Brewer, Hoisington Middle School eighth grader, and a couple of her Barton County Youth Crew peers attended Youth Mental Health Advocacy Day at the State Capitol to discuss substance use, prevention, resources and more.

“I enjoyed sharing my thoughts with those who could help me make a positive change,” Brewer also noted.

Esmae Trimble, Great Bend Middle School seventh grader, commented that state lawmakers “sounded like they truly wanted to help youth and better our communities.”

These Youth Crew members, along with their peer, Braelyn Komarek, Great Bend High School freshman, met with Rep. Sherri Brantley and Sen. Tori Blew.

Tyler Morton, prevention advocate at Juvenile Services, said this advocacy day “gives young people a platform to speak directly to legislators who make decisions that impact them and their peers. Youth from all over Kansas came together to talk about what is important to them.

“It also gives adults time with our lawmakers and other leaders to discuss program goals and report on our successes, as well as some projects that didn’t work out.”

The opening presentation focused on Kratom and 7-OH, which are new drug trends. “These are both highly addictive and not approved by the Food and Drug Administration,” Morton emphasized.

Other topics were cell-phone policies in schools, suicide-prevention resources and social media as it pertains to mental health.

“Youth Crew appreciates being able to meet with local legislators,” Morton said. “Policy change is part of what we aim for, even with the challenges we face because of the complexity of some issues.

“Having a direct line to Rep. Brantley and Sen. Blew is invaluable. We are grateful for their willingness to spend time with us during the busy legislative session.”

In addition, Youth Crew appreciates the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) for hosting this event through its Youth Leaders in Kansas (YLinK) program.

“They do a great job accommodating young people,” Morton said. “There are many moving parts during the six-hour conference and they continue to go above and beyond. The KDADS team genuinely cares about Kansas youth and understands what they value.”

The No. 25 Barton Community College baseball team responded from its first setbacks of the season in decisive fashion Tuesday afternoon at Jimmy Lawson-Danny Biggs field, sweeping Highland Community College with 12-2 and 15-2 five-inning run-rule victories.

Barton seized control early in the opener and carried that momentum into an offensive surge in the nightcap. After building separation in Game 1, the Cougars poured in 14 runs across the first three innings of the finale to put the game out of reach.

With the sweep, the Cougars close out their nine-game homestand at 11-2 overall, while the Scotties fall to 0-10 on the season. Barton hits the road to kickoff a three-game weekend set at Kansas City Kansas Community College, beginning with a 2:00 p.m. nine-inning opener Friday before wrapping up the series Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.

Held to just 12 hits 24 hours earlier, the Cougar bats erupted with 27 runs on 24 hits across Tuesday's twinbill, including four home runs.&nbsp;Kyle Walker&nbsp;led the lineup with a .800 afternoon at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three extra base hits, including his second home run of the season, while driving in five runs and scoring five times.&nbsp;Jaxon Case&nbsp;and&nbsp;Hunter Thoms&nbsp;each added four hits, while&nbsp;Kyler Horsman&nbsp;drove in a team-high seven runs behind a pair of home runs in the nightcap, highlighted by a third-inning grand slam.

On the mound, Barton pitchers combined to allow just four earned runs across 10 innings of work to complement the offensive surge.&nbsp;

Game 1 Recap The Cougars jumped on Highland early in the opener, scoring five runs in the first inning and never looked back in the 211-2 five-inning run-rule victory. Walker opened the scoring with an RBI groundout after a one-out triple,&nbsp;Carter Helm&nbsp;added a triple of his own, and Case's two-run double helped call the five-run frame with four coming behind two-outs.

Barton continued to add on throughout, highlighted by Thoms' two-run triple in the three-run third inning and walk off single in the fifth as the Cougars piled up 15 hits.

On the mound,&nbsp;Landon Haines&nbsp;(1-0) earned his first victory of the season, working three innings while allowing two runs and striking out two.&nbsp;Aidan Medina&nbsp;closed out the final two frames, surrendering just one hit to seal the five-inning run-rule victory.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Game 2 Recap Barton wasted little time taking control in the nightcap, scoring two runs in the first inning before erupting for five in the second and seven more in the third en route to a 15-2 five-inning run-rule victory.

Walker ignited the offense with a two-run home run in the opening frame, while Case added a solo-shot later in the third. Horsman delivered the biggest swing of the afternoon with a grand-slam in the same inning as part of his two-home-run, seven-RBI performance. The Cougars capped the scoring in the fourth on&nbsp;Tyler Janssen's pinch-hit RBI double, plating&nbsp;Bruin Sampson&nbsp;following his one-out pinch-hit walk.

Starter,&nbsp;Austin Young&nbsp;(1-0) notched his first collegiate victory, tossing three innings of one-run ball, while&nbsp;Landon Ritchey&nbsp;and&nbsp;Drew Koch&nbsp;combined to close out the final two frames.

No. 25 Cougars respond with run-rule doubleheader sweep of Highland

The No. 6 ranked Barton Community College men's track and field team battled to a two-point margin this past weekend at Pittsburg State University's Robert W. Plaster Center, compiling 120 points to finish runner-up at the KJCCC/Region 6 Indoor Championships.

The Cougars closed just behind Hutchinson Community College's 122-point total while distancing third-place Coffeyville's 109 points in one of the meet's tightest championship races.

Across the two-day competition, Barton produced five event titles, multiple season and personal best performances, and three new national qualifying marks while registering program record-book movement in the high jump.

Barton now shifts its focus to the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships set for March 6–7 at Washburn University Indoor Facility in Topeka, Kansas.

Coaching honors headline award sweep Following the meet, Head Coach David Schenek was named Region 6 Men's Coach of the Year while Emmanuel Dixon earned Region 6 Men's Assistant Coach of the Year honors. Freshman&nbsp;Chavez Penn&nbsp;was tabbed the Region 6 Men's Field Athlete of the Meet after accounting for 25 of Barton's 120 team points.

Penn powers the podium Penn delivered one of the weekend's most dominant performances, capturing Region 6 titles in both the triple jump and high jump while adding a fourth-place finish in the long jump.

He claimed the triple jump crown at 15.36m (50-04.75) before clearing a personal best 2.14m (7-00.25) in the high jump, a mark that ranks seventh-best in program history. One day earlier, Penn recorded a 7.29m (23-11.00) long jump for a five point start to his weekend.

Nationally, the freshman now ranks third in the NJCAA in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump, figuring to be a multi-event scoring at the upcoming national championships.

Johnson anchors sprint success LaMont Johnson&nbsp;delivered a championship performance in the 400m, winning in 46.65 while&nbsp;Simeon Adams&nbsp;and&nbsp;Emmanuel Adams&nbsp;added sixth and eighth place finishes respectively.

In the short sprints,&nbsp;Aragorn Straker&nbsp;placed fourth in the 200m with a season-best and national qualifying 21.54.&nbsp;Dejuan Colbert&nbsp;(6.84) and Straker (6.86) also produced season-best 60m times.

Middle distance depth fuels scoring surge Trevoy Smith&nbsp;secured runner-up honors in the 600m with a personal best 1:19.42, while&nbsp;Furious Trammel&nbsp;added a personal best and national qualifier at 1:19.56 in fourth.&nbsp;Shavan Jarrett&nbsp;also met national standard for the first time with a 1:20.47.

Macdonald Jansen&nbsp;contributed a fourth-place finish in the 1000m, clocking a 2:27.40 in his first attempt at the meet.

The 4x800m relay quartet of&nbsp;Sergi Gonzalez,&nbsp;Keandro Gordon,&nbsp;Da'Marcus Brutus, and Jansen captured gold in a season-best and national qualifying 7:48.36. Barton added a third-place finish in the Distance Medley Relay and a fourth-place showing in the 4x400m relay.

No. 6 Barton men finish two points shy of Region 6 title, place runner-up

The No. 5 ranked Barton Community College women's track and field team captured five event titles over the weekend in producing a runner-up finish at the KJCCC/Region 6 Indoor Championships held inside Pittsburg State University's Robert W. Plaster Center.

The Cougars compiled 127 points across the two-day meet, finishing 18 points shy of Hutchinson Community College's 145 total while distancing third-place Cloud County's 90 points by 37.

Across the championship weekend, Barton produced 11 personal best performances, one season best, and four new national qualifying marks while adding a Region 6 Championship meet record, a program No. 2 all-time performance, and an NJCAA all-time Top 10 mark in compiling one of the meet's most balanced scoring efforts.

Barton now turns its attention to the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, set for March 6–7 at Washburn University's Indoor Facility in Topeka, Kansas.

Fox shines in pentathlon debut Sophomore&nbsp;Natasha Fox&nbsp;delivered one of the weekend's most impressive performances, placing runner-up in her first career pentathlon appearance with 3,199 points, just 138 shy of the winning total.

Competing in the multi-event and each of its five disciplines for the first time collegiately, Fox won the 800m (2:26.69) while adding runner-up finishes in the 60m hurdles (9.26), high jump (1.50m), and long jump (5.08m). She later returned to place fourth in the open 600m, clocking a personal best and national qualifying 1:35.63 to add valuable team points.

Ulett defends; Binger rewrites the record book Asharria Ulett&nbsp;defended her Region 60m hurdles title, clocking a 8.35 continuing the Cougars' historical strength in the event.

Behind her,&nbsp;Camoy Binger&nbsp;delivered one of the meet's signature performances. Blazing an 8.26 in preliminaries, Binger set a new Region 6 Indoor Championship meet record while moving to No. 2 all-time in Barton program history. The mark also ranks as the ninth-fastest time in NJCAA history. She followed with an 8.68 runner-up finish in the finals to secure eight team points.&nbsp;Alexia Walker&nbsp;added further scoring with a personal best 8.85 in fourth as all three had previously secured national qualifying standards.

McPherson and relay deliver gold Narissa McPherson&nbsp;captured the 400m championship in a personal best 55.18, while&nbsp;Maya Maldonado&nbsp;added a fourth-place finish in a personal best 58.11.

The tandem of Maldonado, Walker,&nbsp;Takeila Williams, and McPherson closed the meet's 4x400m relay with the field's top time by nearly a full second at 3:50.75, reinforcing its national qualifying status.

Additional sprint scoring included&nbsp;Thomphang Basele's fourth-place personal best 7.66 in the 60m, while&nbsp;Sethunya Majama&nbsp;earlier secured a national qualifying 7.70 mark. Williams placed seventh in the 200m after posting a personal best 25.06 in preliminaries.

Riddle sweeps; Brown clears for title Celine Riddle&nbsp;controlled the runway events for the second straight season, winning the long jump with a season-best 6.04m (19-10.00) before adding the triple jump title at 11.89m (39-00.00).&nbsp;Alexia Walker&nbsp;secured runner-up honors in the long jump at 5.94m.

Jahmeka Brown&nbsp;delivered the high jump championship by clearing 1.67m (5-05.75), with Walker adding another runner-up finish at 1.57m.

Zadie Mackey&nbsp;registered a pair of personal bests, placing fourth in the weight throw at 15.21m and sixth in the shot put at 12.94m.&nbsp;Shamoyea Morris&nbsp;added a fifth-place weight throw finish at 15.14m, while&nbsp;Shamoye Morris&nbsp;contributed additional points in the shot put.

No. 5 Barton women capture five titles, finish runner-up at Region 6 Championships

WASHINGTON (AP) — The gold medal-winning U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team has visited President Donald Trump at the White House and later received about a 2-minute bipartisan standing ovation during his State of the Union address. Trump also announced that the women’s hockey team, which also defeated Canada to win gold, will visit the White House. The women’s team had declined an invitation to attend the State of the Union due to the timing of the address. Trump also said goalie Connor Hellebuyck will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico (AP) — The violence that followed the killing of a cartel leader in Mexico is fueling fears that the bloodshed could hurt tourism ahead of the FIFA World Cup later this year. Maria Dolores Aguirre’s corner store has lived off the tourism that flows into her cobblestoned town of Tapalpa in the mountains of Mexico’s state of Jalisco. Then the Mexican army killed the country’s most powerful drug lord Sunday just a few kilometers from her home. The killing sparked a surge in violence and put the country on edge. Now Aguirre and others are worried that the clashes between the cartel and security forces will hurt their livelihoods.

LISBON (AP) — The Portuguese soccer federation says it is monitoring the situation in Mexico amid a surge in violence ahead of its friendly against the Mexican national team in March. The federation says it is “closely monitoring the delicate situation currently unfolding in Mexico” following the killing of the country’s most powerful drug lord by the Mexican army on Sunday. The killing sparked a surge in violence and put the country on edge. The World Cup warmup match is scheduled for March 28 at the renovated Azteca Stadium. The venue is scheduled to host the opening match of the World Cup on June 11.

Jack Hughes’ overtime goal delivered a huge audience for U.S. hockey and NBC. Nielsen said Team USA's 2-1 win over Canada in the gold medal game averaged 18.6 million live viewers on NBC and Peacock. The audience rose to 20.7 million with encores later on Sunday. Nielsen also said it the most-watched U.S. sporting event with a start time before 9 a.m. Eastern. NBC said it is its second-most-watched hockey game ever. Canada’s broadcaster said 8.7 million Canadians watched overtime. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tiger Woods has a few big decisions facing him next month. Getting most of the attention is whether he will play in the Masters. But he also is facing what has been described to The Associated Press as a soft deadline to be Ryder Cup captain. He's the top choice. But the PGA of America is hopeful of getting an answer sooner rather than later so it doesn't wait to long like it did last time. Key to these decisions is what occupies most of Woods' time. He's the chief architect in the biggest overhaul of the PGA Tour schedule.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Wendell Carter Jr. made a go-ahead putback with 6.7 seconds to play, Paolo Banchero scored 36 points and the Orlando Magic finished a strong West Coast trip with a 110-109 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James missed a fallaway 3-point attempt on the last shot by the Lakers. Luka Doncic had 22 points and 15 assists, including a pass in the final minute to James for a go-ahead dunk. After Carter scored on the Magic’s second offensive rebound of their final possession, Doncic belatedly got the ball to James, whose desperation shot didn’t go.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The New York Jets don’t plan to let running back Breece Hall hit the open market at the start of the league year, while the futures of other top running backs such as Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III and David Montgomery remain more in flux. Jets general manager Darren Mougey said that the team plans to use either the franchise tag or the transition tag on Hall if the two sides can’t reach a new deal before the deadline on March 3. Seattle general manager John Schneider wouldn't commit to tagging Walker, while Detroit could be open to trading Montgomery.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Las Vegas Raiders general manager John Spytek never uttered the name Fernando Mendoza while speaking at the NFL’s annual scouting combine. He didn’t need to. As Spytek ran through the list of traits he needs in a franchise quarterback, it seemed he was using the same words and phrases so often used to describe Mendoza by his college teammates during last season’s Heisman Trophy campaign. Selecting Mendoza only seems natural for the team holding the No. 1 pick in April’s NFL draft.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons have informed quarterback Kirk Cousins they plan to release the 14-year veteran when free agency opens. New general manager Ian Cunningham made the announcement at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. Cousins played two seasons with the Falcons and started 22 of 34 games. He signed a $180 million contract before Atlanta drafted Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth overall pick in 2024. The 37-year-old Cousins is 88-77-2 as a starter with Washington, Minnesota and Atlanta. The Falcons also placed the franchise tag on tight end Kyle Pitts on Tuesday, preventing him from becoming a free agent.

ATLANTA (AP) — Trae Young has returned to Atlanta for the first time since the Hawks dealt their star guard to the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster trade last month. He wasn't in uniform as he continues his comeback from a sprained right knee and quadriceps contusion. Young hasn’t played in nearly two months, and the Wizards seem in no rush to get him back on the court when their poor record could lead to a high draft pick. Young says there are no hard feelings toward his former team, even if his tenure did end on a sour note.

SALINE COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating after finding credit card skimmers on gas pumps at a station in Salina.

On Tuesday, police were dispatched to Flying J gas station, 2250 N. Ohio in Salina for the report of a card skimmer found on one of the diesel pumps, according to Salina Police Captain James Feldman.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On February 13, a business in Salina reported they used the diesel pump and noticed fraudulent charges on their credit card.&nbsp;

Officers confirmed of finding the skimmer on the diesel pump. Police warned the public if they have used any of the pumps within the last month to be aware of any fraudulent charges.

Police report card skimmer on gas pumps central Kansas

WASHINGTON (AP) — Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger offered a sharp contrast to President Donald Trump’s depiction of the nation as being in a “golden age” during his State of the Union, arguing in her Democratic rebuttal that costs remain high for many Americans more than a year into his second term.

Her message, that families are still struggling under Trump’s policies, is one Democrats plan to carry nationwide ahead of the midterm elections. Party leaders point to Spanberger’s double-digit victory in Virginia last November as validation of a disciplined, cost-focused campaign they now hope to replicate across the country.

“Democrats across the country are laser-focused on affordability in our nation’s capital and in state capitals and communities across America,” said Spanberger. “In the most innovative and exceptional nation in the history of the world, Americans deserve to know that their leaders are focused on addressing the problems that keep them up at night.”

Spanberger asks Americans whether life is better under Trump

Spanberger was flanked by American flags as she delivered the speech from Colonial Williamsburg, a living history museum with restored 18th-century buildings, invoking the site’s role at the heart of Virginia’s early opposition to British rule.

“As we celebrate 250 years since America declared our independence from tyranny, I can think of no better place to speak to you,” Spanberger said.

Spanberger said she wanted to “plainly and honestly” speak to people watching at home. She structured her speech around a series of direct questions: “Is the president working to make life more affordable for you and your family? Is the president working to keep Americans safe, both at home and abroad? Is the president working for you?”

She contrasted those questions with what she described as the reality under Trump, saying he “has sent poorly trained federal agents into our cities, where they have arrested and detained American citizens and people who aspire to be Americans.” She added that Trump seeks to “pit us against one another” while “enriching himself, his family, his friends.”

“This is not what our founders envisioned. Not by a long shot,” said Spanberger. “So I’ll ask again: Is the president working for you? We all know the answer is no.”

Spanberger had a fraction of Trump’s record-breaking time

Spanberger had far less time than the Republican president to make her case, speaking for around 13 minutes. Trump’s address to Congress stretched for just over an hour and 48 minutes, the longest in history, and ran late into the night.

In his speech, Trump described a nation with lower costs than when he took office, declaring, “This is the golden age of America.”

He also goaded the Democratic side of the House chambers throughout the speech for not standing, increasing his insults throughout the speech and calling his opponents “crazy.” But Democrats inside the chamber largely didn’t react, sitting silently. Texas Rep. Al Green was removed from the chamber barely two minutes into the president’s address after holding a protest sign reading “Black People Aren’t Apes!”

Outside the chamber, Democrats who had skipped the speech responded at counterprogramming events, including a “People’s State of the Union” featuring Democratic lawmakers alongside state and local leaders and celebrities.

“We know our state of the union. We know it is under attack,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland said at the event.'

Democrats look toward November’s midterms

Democrats believe the political environment is shifting in their favor. Spanberger’s win in Virginia was followed by other high-profile Democratic victories, including a special election this month in Texas, where a Democrat flipped a reliably Republican state Senate district that Trump carried by 17 percentage points in 2024.

In California Sen. Alex Padilla’s Spanish-language response to Trump’s address, he described the nation as “living a nightmare that divides and destroys our communities” and urged viewers to “prepare, starting today, for your voice to reverberate this November.”

Padilla, who was forcefully removed from a Homeland Security news conference in Los Angeles last year while questioning immigration raids, referenced the moment in his remarks.

“They may have knocked me down for a moment, but I got right back up,” he said. “As our parents taught us: If you fall seven times, get up eight. I am still here. Standing. Still fighting.”

Spanberger, meanwhile, sought to tie Republicans in Congress closely to Trump as Democrats aim to flip the House and Senate in November. She warned that additional tariffs would raise costs “and Republicans in Congress, they remain unwilling to assert their constitutional authority to stop him.”

“They’re making your life harder. They’re making your life more expensive,” she said.

MCPHERSON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 4:30p.m. Tuesday in McPherson County.

The McPherson County Sheriff's office reported a UTV was northbound on 12th Avenue at Moccasin Road. The UTV struck a westbound Suzuki SUV in the intersection and overturned. After impact the UTV driver was ejected and he was pronounced dead at the scene.&nbsp;

The female driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital in McPherson for treatment.&nbsp; The sheriff's office did not release names of the drivers.
