JOHNSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects in connection with the death of a child.
On Thursday 30-year-old Alexis S. Williams and 31-year-old Kevin S. Martenia were charged with first-degree murder, child abuse and aggravated endangerment of a child, according to a statement from Johnson County District Attorney Stephen Howe.
They were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the child's death in the summer of 2023.
Authorities released no additional information on the investigation into the child’s death. Martenia has a previous conviction for robbery and has been out of prison since March of 2020, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Both suspects are due back in court on April 25, according to online jail records.
