Former Great Bend High School graduate Chayse Gruber has committed to play Division I baseball at the University of Richmond.
Gruber was selected to the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches (KABC) 5A All-State Team as a 2nd Team selection in 2022 and helped Great Bend to a co-championship of the Western Athletic Conference his senior year.
Playing two years at Neosho County Community College as a pitcher, Gruber has a 10-3 record on the mound with 79 strikeouts in his career. This spring, Gruber is 8-3 with an ERA of 2.72.
