LaChelle Fitzmorris answered an advertisement in the Rush County News years ago asking for volunteers to organize an all-school reunion for Otis-Bison High School. Now, 15 years later, Fitzmorris is the president of the Otis-Bison Alumni Association and she is gearing up for the reunion this summer that will bring hundreds of former Otis-Bison graduates back to town.

"In the past we've had over 500 people show up," said Fitzmorris. "We've been able to reach a lot more people this year with social media, acquiring email addresses and contact information. We have a pretty good database now. Running our numbers, we're anticipating about 1,000 people for the weekend."

Started in 2009, the all-class reunion for Otis-Bison occurs every five years. The 2024 edition will take place July 19-20.

Along with a beer garden, food vendors, cornhole tournament, music and an alumni museum, there will be a “Cougar Catchup” to visit with former teachers and coaches.

"It's for the alumni but it's open to the community too," said Fitzmorris. "There's a beer garden, food vendors, silent auction and a DJ both nights. Anybody is welcome."

Babysitting services will be provided for a fee both nights in the high school gym. Find more information at www.otisbisonalumni.com.
