During Monday’s meeting, the Board of Education for Unified School District 428 revisited the topic of the School Calendar, aiming to approve of the most popular option. Dr. Tom Vernon is Superintendent for USD 428.
In the midst of choosing a calendar, the Board also discussed the possibility of lengthening the school day by fifteen to twenty minutes during the upcoming school year, which in turn equals additional days of instruction time. With this idea, the school year could start later, and potentially save money with less days. Pulling everything together, the Board first narrowly approved of calendar option seven for 2013-2014, while also approving to explore the possibility of extending of the school day over the next month.
