‘Haunted’ Kansas Town Prepares For Halloween

ATCHISON, Kan. (AP) – The northeast Kansas town that promotes itself as the state’s most haunted is getting ready to kick off its Halloween season.

New events in Atchison this year include Slumber with the Spirits, where guests stay at a bed and breakfast and participate in group readings with a spiritual medium. The city is also dishing up two new dining events – Munch with a Medium and Mingle with a Mystic. Other activities include narrated trolley tours and cemetery walking tours.

The city says some of its oldest ghostly tales date back to when Atchison was a bustling transportation hub and launching point for westward migration in the late 1800s.
