Changes continue at Central Kansas Community Corrections. Tuesday morning, the Barton County Commission approved the purchase of new office furniture for the facility. County Administrator Matt Patzner said bids were accepted for the furniture from April 22 through noon on April 25.

"The office furniture bids were to include select pieces for a suite of offices at 806 12th, Great Bend," he said. "In the RFP, it was mentioned the furniture must be of sufficient quality to ensure endurance for multi-year use, must be delivered assembled or be assembled on-site at Community Corrections, and a majority of the furniture should be installed within one month of the bid of order."

OPI submitted the low and local bid at $7,997. Kansas Correctional Industries, which employs more than 1,100 inmates across the state, submitted the other bid at nearly double that amount. The commission approved the bid from OPI and noted funds used to pay for the furniture come from CKCC's program funds and had to be spent before the fiscal year ends. There is no cost to Barton County taxpayers.
